Not quite cordless
[In "No more cords"] Vincent Vermeer of Lucent kept making the claim that no more cords are needed with the ORiNOCO product (hope they didn't pay a consultant too much for that name).
As you read on, you find that the ORiNOCO base station needs cords to plug into a power outlet and again it needs cords to be connected to the Internet.
The other thing that Vermeer is forgetting to mention is that the remote units need cords in order to have long-term, always-on ability.The comment that it costs "less than one might think" does not convey a sub-$100 consumer price point.
I think Lucent is on the right track, but they are far from "no more cords" and are nowhere near "affordable" to the average consumer.
