Transplanting the CD-R drive from the PC to the living room, the Terapin records video from a camcorder, broadcast signal, VCR, or DVD player onto a CD-R disc. A disc can hold 74 minutes of “TV-quality” video and be played by the Terapin itself, a PC, or a DVD player that accepts CD-Rs. The $499 unit can also burn audio discs from the home stereo system. | The Palm-based HandEra 330 incorporates a quarter-VGA (240-by-320-pixel) display that works both upright and in a landscape orientation. Moreover, you can gain more screen space by making the pen-input area disappear when it’s not needed (unlike on other Palm devices, where it’s a permanent, silkscreened overly). The $350 PDA also offers both Secure Digital (SD) and CompactFlash slots. HandEra (formerly TRG Products), www.handera.com |

The Stylus Photo 785EPX works without a PC, printing images directly from digital-camera memory cards. A PC Card slot (lower right) accepts adapters for CompactFlash, SmartMedia, and Memory Stick storage devices. The $249 printer offers resolution as high as 2880 by 720 dpi and will work with a PC too, if so desired. Epson, www.epson.com |
