Games on the move
Mobile multimedia is already somewhat old hat in Japan, where NTT DoCoMo continues to push the envelope in terms of bringing multimedia to cell phones. The company has joined up with Sony Computer Entertainment to let users of its Internet mobile phones play video games through a link up to Sony’s PlayStation game console. Playstation consoles will connect with NTT DoCoMo’s i-mode phone later this year, and with the 3G phones that the company plans to introduce next May. DoCoMo aims to be the first company to launch phones using W-CDMA (wideband code division multiple access) technology, which enables users to send large amounts of data (including moving images) at high speed.
