Wireless technology proves irresistible
Even providers of wired data services are getting in bed with wireless technology. Comcast, which provides cable-based broadband services to small- and medium-sized businesses, is conducting a trial of Proxim's RangeLAN and Symphony products as a means of sharing an Internet connection within an office.
Comcast says many of its customers operate out of rented buildings or older structures, where stringing new LAN wiring is problematic.
