Heavyweights promise wireless Internet
Cisco, along with partners including Broadcom, Motorola, and Texas
Instruments, is delivering terrestrial wireless Internet links using VOFDM
(Vector Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing). Meanwhile Qualcomm has
plotted a CDMA-based cellular roadmap that sees data service for mobile users
climb from 115 kbits/sec today, to 638 kbits/sec in 2001, and to 2 Mbits/sec by
2003.
