Group promotes open voice standards for gateways
One key job for future home gateways will be handling voice-over-data service, but to date no two vendors have plans to implement the technology in a similar fashion. A new industry association called OpenVoB (open voice over broadband) hopes to solve the problems via standardization and verification programs. Founding members include Accelerated Networks, Avail Networks, Broadband Gateways,
Cayman Systems, General Bandwidth, Intel, IPCell, ipVerse, ishoni Networks, MetaSwitch, Santera Systems, and Woodwind Communications.
