High-voltage alliance
Heavy hitters team up to plug power-line networking
Some of the industry’s biggest players have joined to form the HomePlug Powerline Alliance. The group will promote the use of home electrical wiring as a no-new-wires method for connecting PCs, consumer electronics, and smart appliances.
Presumably, the scheme will even support the transmission of broadband and multimedia content. Notable supporters include Compaq, Intel, Conexant, Cisco, and Microsoft.
