Software lets you master DVDs
Digital video producers can now deliver DVD video streams not only on DVD discs, but also on other media, with the guarantee that most any modern PC will be able to play the content. Sonic Solutions, a leading vendor of DVD authoring tools, will offer the cDVD format. Essentially, cDVD packages Ravisent Technologies’ CineMaster, a software-based DVD decoder, along with the video content. Producers can deliver the DVD video on a CD-ROM or a CD-R disc, although both
accommodate far less data than a DVD. cDVD is available for all Sonic tools including DVDit!, a product that’s even affordable for consumers.
In fact, making home DVD movies may be cheaper than you think. Dazzle announced it will include DVDit! in its Digital Video Creator II package, which will ship this quarter for $349.99. The package allows consumers to create videos, store them on a variety of CD or DVD media, and even play the videos on living-room equipment.
